reading : middlemarch

October 22, 2011 § Leave a comment

George Eliot’s Middlemarch is one of those classic books that a classic reader reads alongside Austen, Dickens and Thackeray, but for some reason, I have not read this until now.  The book takes some effort to read.  I couldn’t get into it naturally.  That I got beyond the tenth chapter is due to my determination; although I did try to pick up other arguably more interesting books that might induce me to set aside a classic that as I have said I should have read years ago.  I resisted the temptation and stayed with it.  The effort is paying off.  I think the book is really interesting and I can’t wait to have this behind me. 😀  I want it to adorn my read shelves already.
